Here are some of the main characters in my Code Geass sequel fanfic Code Geass: Lelouch of the Ascension.

First off is the titular character Lelouch, having grown five years older since the events of R2. An unusual case even among the Geass users, Lelouch is able to maintain some of his Geass ability at the cost of a mild aging effect which he is trying to reverse-engineer for those he was close to. He is also wandering the world, searching for those who still fight each other despite his Zero Requiem. Having traveled the world by foot during the last five years Lelouch has finally started developing his physical abilities, although he is far from happy about it.

Shinji Akari is a young Japanese boy attending Ashford Academy, and is part of the student council alongside best friends Seiei and Ryusei. He had watched Lelouch's tyrannical declaration five years ago, though at the time he didn't truly understand the impact of the announcement. He first meets Lelouch face-to-face when some local punks accost a sleeping Lelouch in the park. Stepping in to protect what looks like a defenseless homeless dude, Shinji watches as Lelouch gives the punks a Geass order to leave them alone. When they reunite later on Lelouch offers Shinji a Geass which he gladly accepts. Shinji's Geass rapidly shortens his reaction time, allowing him to avoid or block attacks normally impossible.

As time passes Lelouch begins to once again take on the persona of Zero, this time calling himself Zero Phoenix in honor of his rebirth. At the beginning Zero Phoenix only has a few people under his command, but later on reformats the original Black Knights into the Crimson Knights group he has formed.

Seiei Yokubo is a childhood friend of Shinji's, and has developed a crush on Shinji very similar to the Shirley-Lelouch romantic sub-plot. She has joined both the swim club and martials arts club, giving her a better self-defense ability. When Lelouch saves the three from an attack with both his Immortal Code and Remnant Geass Seiei is the most reluctant about joining Lelouch, but agrees to fight alonside Shinji.

Ryusei Gekido is a Brittainian youth who befriended Shinji and Seiei back in primary school. While his real name is Randolph Gillimer, Ryusei changed it on a whim ("it just sounds cooler"). Ryusei is a very humorous and impulsive youth, often getting involved in elaborate pranks then dragging poor Shinji along. He knows about Seiei's feelings for Shinji and constantly makes asides to the crush in front of an oblivious Shinji. When the three meet Lelouch Ryusei doesn't have an opinion of him either way, but decides to go along with Lelouch's plan because it sounds like fun.

Aside from receiving one of the first eleventh-generation Knightmare Frames (the Constantine), Shinji also becomes one of the first Crimson Knights to wear the X-03 Human Conflict suit. The suit adds protection to key areas on the human body, while also implementing a radical version of the energy wing Float variant. The left arm is artificially lengthened and ends in a claw-type weapon, which can deploy two miniature Slash Harkens at the wearer's command.
